A pillow gets squashed. A backpack carries weight. A plush that looks great in the sample but sags, tears or sheds color after use causes returns. As a functional plush toys maker, we engineer for use: strap stitching, zipper quality, filling rebound and wash durability.
We cover OEM plush pillows, plush backpacks and tote bags for retail and licensed IP lines.

Ask a production questionShredded memory foam clumps the moment it is washed and never recovers. If you want the foam feel, we build it as a sewn cassette — a baffled inner bag holding the foam inside a removable cover — so the cover takes the washing and the core is spot-cleaned only.
For a fully washable pillow, siliconized PP cluster at 380–450 gsm fill weight is the honest answer: 30+ domestic cycles at 40 °C with 5–8% loft loss. We run the cover to 40 cycles and report the number with the sample rather than claiming 'machine washable' on the hang tag.
Baffle construction. Sewn channels or a box-baffle grid hold the fill where it was weighed instead of letting it slide to the corners under a head. We weigh fill per unit to ±3% and add 8% overfill for first-week settling.
On shaped products — a cloud, a star, an animal with limbs — the limbs get their own sewn chambers. Otherwise the head empties into the tail within a month of nightly use, and that is a return, not a complaint.
A plush backpack is a novelty item, not a school bag, and the labeling has to say so. That said, the strap should not fail in a shop. We anchor 12 mm polypropylene webbing into a 600D backed panel with a box-X stitch plus bar-tacks, then static-load test to 15 kg for 24 hours on the seam.
The first failure point is almost always the shell fabric around the anchor rather than the stitch, which is why the backing panel matters more than the thread. The pull test is photographed on the first article and sent with the pre-production sample.
Yes. A pillow marketed for children still meets CPSIA in the US and EN 71 in the EU, but retail buyers add fiber-content labeling, filling flammability documentation and, in some states, law labels. Sleep-adjacent claims also invite scrutiny of small parts and ventilation.
We build to the stricter of your two markets, document fiber content per batch, and keep age grading identical across hang tag, carton and listing — mismatches between those three are the most common reason a container gets held at destination.
